Meine Lieben!
Ich schreiben jede Wochen for 1/7 sh. and they still don’t hear from me. Lb. Lilo could you please write to them and let them know that I am O.K. We have glorious weather and I am on my way to the swimming pool. It is a good hour ride by bus and it is the best time to write my letters. This week I had a letter from Donald, Vivien and the two Leslies. Was it not marvellous all in one week. Donald is now[?] in the R.A.F. He likes it a lot and will soon send me his „silver wings“. Grand, he is looping[?] to me on his next leave. Vivien is in the army but had a heartattack and is now in military hospital. Leslie Gl. is an officer. I had a photo of him in uniform. He does look smart. He smooks[?] a lot, but can you blame him? He is better looking than he used to be. Lazzy is still a student. He is nearly finished with his 4th year and

he is now preparing for his examination. And you know what that mines[?] don’t you? Last week I bought myself a swimming suit. Lovely. Black and white with a little bit of orange. More white than any other color. It kostet me 33/6 sh. It is a lot but you can’t get nothing cheaper those days. What weather do you get? I do hope that you will write to me soon. Lb. Lilo have you been to see Lilos brother yet. Please go and tell him that we are well. I shall have to close as I am nearly at the pool. Lilo will play war with me as I am half an hour late. Keep well and all the best wishes your yours Ruth

My dear ones!
Hopefully you are all healthy, which I can also thankfully report from me. How is it that I don’t hear from you at all? This week I had mail from dear grandparents and they are worried that they don’t hear from me at all. I write every week for 1/7 sh. (shilling) and they still don’t hear from me. Dear Lilo could you please write to them and let them know that I am O.K.
